Billie Victorianna ‘Tori’ Hughes || Anorexia, Substance abuse, Self harm || 19 || Crystal Reed || Taken
Billie’s had a rough go of life so far. her parents split when she was very young, and her mother had gotten full custody of her children. when billie was seven, and a rising star in the dance world, her mother (a former ballerina) was diagnosed with cancer. within a year of her diagnosis, billie’s mom passed away. billie’s father was contacted, and he agreed to take in billie and her younger brother (two year difference), andrew. however, her father really wasn’t interested in taking care of two kids- he’d only wanted a son, anyway. he made that clear to his daughter as soon as she arrived. billie’s ‘girly’ dancing was scoffed at, and discontinued.
As if Billie wasn’t upset enough over the loss of her mother, who was her best friend, dance, and the fact that her father obviously didn’t want her around, her dad got a girlfriend, holly. fifteen years his junior, she was clearly in the relationship for the money, and he was in it for her looks and energy. at first, holly tried to be the mother that Billie was missing in her life, but all that billie really understood was holly’s value of looks. outside appearance was everything to holly- it was a must to have everything from the highest cheekbones to the most expensive handbag in the room. thus began billie’s spiral into anorexia.
Her fierce determination to be successful at whatever she chose to set her mind to, combined with an already naturally slight shape, literally turned her to skin and bone. Andrew, whom she had always been close with, tried to stop her from destroying herself, but that was the one thing Billie couldn’t do for her baby brother. it killed her inside, every day, to know that she was upsetting him so much. but she just couldn’t stop herself. she started to cut, as a way to release her frustration. in high school, she was swept up by the party crowd, drinking and doing the occasional round of drugs on her more wild nights out.
Even throughout all her nighttime stunts, she was a smart girl, pulling almost straight a’s in all her classes despite her usually coming to school hung over, or ditching school completely. she just had a knack for learning. after she graduated from high school, she continued to Cornell, on a dance scholarship, to study communications / psychology. without Andrew around to hold her back, though, Billie lost control of herself. she became addicted to heroin (which she was introduced to at a modeling shoot) as well as alcohol. she also continued to starve and cut herself. finally, her dorm mate contacted Andrew, and told him about Billie. he flew out from california to get her, and took her back to Preston.
He’s is the only reason Billie’s agreed to get help. andrew hopes that his sister’s wild determination could somehow be refocused here, through some miracle of modern medicine, and he could get the big sister he knew so well before back.. somehow. Billie just hopes she won’t let him down again.
